Every once in a while, a coffee comes along that reminds you why you fell in love with coffee in the first place.
Not the caffeine.
Not the routine.
The wonder of it.
The moment when a cup stops being a cup and becomes a little window into something bigger.
This is that coffee for me.
Our new limited-edition Guji, Ethiopia—sourced through our friends at Cereza Coffee—is easily one of my favorite coffees of the entire year. It has that “first time you tasted a truly great Ethiopian” feeling… the one that shifts your expectations and makes you rethink what a cup can actually be.
And this one? It’s the kind you lean in for.
Where It Comes From
This lot comes from the Rogicha drying station, tucked into the rugged mountains of the Guji Zone in southern Ethiopia. It’s a region with a story—fertile land, sky-high elevation, and a legacy of coffee cultivation that stretches back centuries.
Rogicha producers hand-pick cherries in the cool evening hours, painstakingly sort for ripeness, and dry the fruit slowly on raised beds for about 20 days—an approach that brings out clarity, depth, and the unmistakable character Guji is known for.
What It Tastes Like
This cup is beautifully balanced but wonderfully complex.
Think pear, vanilla, lemon peel—but not in a loud, sugary way.
More like layers.
Gentle.
Unfolding as it cools.
It’s one of those coffees where the last sip is almost more interesting than the first. Every degree that drops reveals something new—like the cup finally starts telling you secrets it was holding back.
How It’s Brewing Best
I’ve been making this on my Chemex at home, and honestly… that’s where it sings.
There’s something about the extra-thick filter that brings a kind of clarity to the cup—every note stays clean, every layer comes through without crowding the others. If you’re brewing for someone who’s only ever had “coffee coffee,” this is the perfect bridge into “oh, wow, I had no idea coffee could taste like this” territory.
Why It’s Limited
We only have a small amount of this lot—and because it’s built on a direct partnership, it’s not the kind of coffee we can just reorder when we run out. When this one’s gone, it’s gone until next harvest… if we’re lucky enough to get it again.
So if you enjoy coffees that feel like discovery, or if Ethiopian naturals are your happy place, this is absolutely one to snag now.
Because People
At Corner Coffee, sourcing isn’t just about flavor. It’s about the people behind the cup—farmers, partners, roasters, and the neighbors who gather around a table to drink it.
This release is a perfect picture of that: care at origin, intention in processing, and connection at the finish.
