Trudy’s Granola
Because some things are worth making by hand.
There are smells that stay with you.
Warm butter and honey. Toasted almonds. A little cinnamon hanging in the air.
That’s the smell of my grandma’s house.
Her name’s Trudy — but we all call her Mema.
This is her granola recipe — the one I grew up on. We ate it for breakfast, packed it in bags for long drives, and poured it into bowls as a quick snack before sports practice. And somehow, it was always the same: a jar of granola sitting out on the counter, ready for whoever wandered through the kitchen.
To this day, if you stop by my parents’ house, my grandma’s, or really anyone in my extended family, you’ll probably still find a jar sitting there. Always the same. Always fresh. Always home.
Now, that same recipe lives on the menu at Corner Coffee — at our Downtown, Northeast, and Uptown cafés. If you ever stop in while it’s baking, you’ll know right away. The whole place smells like Mema’s kitchen.

Because People
Trudy’s Granola isn’t just a recipe — it’s a reminder.
That simple things, made with care, can carry a family through generations.
That hospitality can be as small as keeping a jar on the counter.
That the love we pour into ordinary things can outlast us.
So here’s to the recipes that smell like home.
And to the people who keep making them.
